When submarine cable line fails or other lines need load transfer, it often suffers from emergency ampacity that exceeds the steady-state ampacity. The layout environment of is always complex and changeable, overload capacity in different environments also different. Therefore, necessary to analyze cable. In this paper, a coupled multi-physical field model by finite element method established for AC 500 kV XLPE extra high voltage landing section, which bottleneck section whole line. two typical are direct buried within pipeline analyzed. results show much higher than environment. allowable time 2–3 times under same condition. environments, when current 2500 A 3500 A, ratio allowed run about 5 initial capacity. proposed can provide reference dynamic control
